BIM Engineering Solution & Technology Sdn Bhd (PLYTEC)
Tunku Abdul Rahman University of Management and Technology (TAR UMT) has renewed its Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with BIM Engineering Solution & Technology Sdn Bhd (PLYTEC) on 16 January 2023.
The signing ceremony was attended by special guests including Prof. Ir. Dr Lee Sze Wei, President of TAR UMT, Ts. Ir. Edward Han Liang Kwang, Director of PLYTEC, Associate Professor Sr Ooi Lay Yong, Dean of the Faculty of Built Environment and Ir. Samantha Lau, Engineering Manager of PLYTEC.
The MoU aims to strengthen the partnership between both parties and reaffirm their commitment to collaborate on the following areas:
Sharing academic knowledge and best industry practices.
Providing exposure to students and educators as the case may be.
Fostering partnerships and long-term relationships with one another.
Board of Quantity Surveyors Malaysia (BQSM)
Tunku Abdul Rahman University College (TAR UC) now known as Tunku Abdul Rahman University of Management and Technology (TAR UMT) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Board of Quantity Surveyors Malaysia (BQSM) on 24 June 2019.
Among the special guests who attended the signing ceremony were Prof. Ir. Dr Lee Sze Wei, President of TAR UC (now known as TAR UMT), Adjunct Professor Sr Dato' Aziz Bin Abdullah, President of BQSM , YB Baru Bian, Minister of Works, Associate Professor Sr Ooi Lay Yong, Dean of the Faculty of Built Environment (FOBE) and Ir. Han Seng Kong, Deputy Dean of FOBE.
Through the MoU, TAR UC (now known as TAR UMT) will facilitate bulk registration of TAR UC (now known as TAR UMT)’s newly graduated quantity surveyors with BQSM as Provisional Quantity Surveyors under the Quantity Surveyors (Amendment) Act 2015.
This will benefit the students as follows:
Direct guidance for registration by BQSM at campus before graduation.
Fast track registration as Provisional Quantity Surveyor with BQSM.
BQSM will waive the first-year registration renewal. 4. BQSM will waive the CPD (Continuing Professional Development) points for first year registration renewal.
BSI Services Malaysia Sdn Bhd
Tunku Abdul Rahman University of Management and Technology (TAR UMT) has renewed its Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with BSI Services Malaysia Sdn Bhd on 16 January 2023.
The signing ceremony was attended by special guests including Prof. Ir. Dr Lee Sze Wei, President of TAR UMT, Mr. Rajiv AG, Product Certification Director, ASEAN, Associate Professor Sr Ooi Lay Yong, Dean of the Faculty of Built Environment and Mr. Wilson Ong, Built Environment Sector Lead, BSI Malaysia.
The MoU aims to strengthen the partnership between both parties and reaffirm their commitment to collaborate on the following areas:
Developing, promoting and cooperating with each other on an equal basis for mutual benefit.
Assisting and supporting each other through various activities and projects that have been mutually identified by the parties.
Chongqing Industry Polytechnic College, China (CQIPC)
Tunku Abdul Rahman University of Management and Technology (TAR UMT) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Chongqing Industry Polytechnic College, China (CQIPC) on 4 August 2023.
Among the special guests who attended the signing ceremony were TAR UMT President Prof. Ir. Dr Lee Sze Wei and Professor Qin Chuanjiang, Vice President of CQIPC.
Through the MoU both parties reaffirms the following area of collaborations:
Inter-management communication and negotiation
Staff and student exchange programs, such as short-term lecture and/or training, non-degree studies, overseas internships, study tours, and credit recognition (subject to approval from relevant regulatory bodies)
Refresher programs, such as certificate and non-certificate training
Cooperative programs in running schools
Joint academic research programs, such as curriculum co-creation
CIDB e-Construct Services Sdn Bhd
Tunku Abdul Rahman University College (TAR UC) now known as Tunku Abdul Rahman University of Management and Technology (TAR UMT) has renewed its Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with CIDB E-Construct Sdn Bhd on 26 January 2022.
The signing ceremony was attended by special guests including Prof. Ir. Dr Lee Sze Wei, President of TAR UC (now known as TAR UMT), Mr. Nur Iskandar Bin Zulkefli, (member of CIDB Board of Directors), Associate Professor Sr Ooi Lay Yong, Dean of the Faculty of Built Environment and Ts. Tunku Abdul Rahman University College (TAR UC) now known as Tunku Abdul Rahman University of Management and Technology (TAR UMT) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Green Quarter (GQ) Sdn Bhd on 20 July, 2022.
Among the special guests who attended the signing ceremony were Prof. Ir. Dr Lee Sze Wei, President of TAR UC (now known as TAR UMT), Associate Professor Sr Ooi Lay Yong, Dean, Faculty of Built Environment, Mr. Nic Chin Yee Choong, Founder and Managing Director of Green Quarter and Ir. Julian Saw, Technical Director of Green Quarter.
Through the MoU both parties reaffirm the following area of collaborations:
Sharing of academic knowledge and best industry practices.
Conducting joint training programmes / workshops / events for students, staff and industry.
Green Quarter provides internship, research and site visits opportunities for TAR UC Built Environment students and / or staff.
Any other area of cooperation in research & development, and teaching & learning related activities
LaurelCap Sdn Bhd
Tunku Abdul Rahman University College (TAR UC) now known as Tunku Abdul Rahman University of Management and Technology (TAR UMT) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with LaurelCap Sdn Bhd on 22 August 2022.
Among the special guests who attended the signing ceremony were Prof. Ir. Dr Lee Sze Wei, President of TAR UC (now known as TAR UMT), Associate Professor Sr Ooi Lay Yong, Dean, Faculty of Built Environment, Sr Tan San Yew, Managing Director of LaurelCap and Sr Stanley Toh, Executive Director of LaurelCap.

LaurelCap providing internship: management trainee programme and research opportunities for TAR UC Built Environment students and / or staff as the case may be.

Malaysian Institute of Property and Facility Managers (MIPFM)
The MoU was signed by Prof. Ir. Dr Lee Sze Wei, President of TAR UMT and Datuk Sr Haji Kamarulzaman bin Mat Salleh, President of MIPFM, who is also the Mayor of Kuala Lumpur on 9 May 2023, to enhance their academic collaboration in the field of property and facilities management.
This agreement will establish a framework for joint activities between the two institutions, including academic research and professional training opportunities for individuals in the industry.
Malaysian Wood Moulding and Joinery Council (MWMJC)
Tunku Abdul Rahman University of Management and Technology (TAR UMT) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Malaysian Wood Moulding and Joinery Council (MWMJC) on 17 July 2023.
Among the special guests who attended the signing ceremony were TAR UMT President Prof. Ir Dr Lee Sze Wei and Mr. George Yap Hong Thein, Chairman of MWMJC.

Tunku Abdul Rahman University of Management and Technology (TAR UMT) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the The Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB) on 24 November, 2022.
The signing ceremony was attended by special guests including Prof. Ir. Dr Lee Sze Wei, President of TAR UMT, Ms. Caroline Gumble, Chief Executive Officer of CIOB, Datuk Seri (Dr.) Michael Yam, President of CIOB and Ts. Ho Chee Leong, President of CIOB Malaysia.

The Institution of Fire Engineers (UK), Malaysia Branch
Tunku Abdul Rahman University College (TAR UC) now known as Tunku Abdul Rahman University of Management and Technology (TAR UMT) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Institution of Fire Engineers (UK) Malaysia Branch on 16 November, 2021.
Among the special guests who attended the online signing ceremony were Prof. Ir. Dr Lee Sze Wei, President of TAR UC (now known as TAR UMT) and Dato' Mohammad Hamdan Bin Hj. Wahid (Director-General of Fire and Rescue Department of Malaysia and President of the Institution of Fire Engineers (UK) Malaysia Branch).
Through the MoU both parties reaffirm the following area of collaborations:
Sharing of academic knowledge and best industry practices.
Academic programme collaboration.
Staff and student training.
Other relevant collaborative activities that will improve the quality and relevancy of TAR UC’s (now known as TAR UMT) built environment programmes.
Trimble Solutions Malaysia Sdn Bhd
Tunku Abdul Rahman University of Management and Technology (TAR UMT) has renewed its Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Trimble Solutions Malaysia Sdn Bhd on 16th January 2023.
The signing ceremony was attended by special guests including Prof. Ir. Dr Lee Sze Wei, President of TAR UMT, Mr. Wee Eng Yau, Trimble Country Manager and Associate Professor Sr Ooi Lay Yong, Dean of the Faculty of Built Environment.
The MoU aims to strengthen the partnership between both parties and reaffirm their commitment to collaborate on the following areas:
Sharing academic knowledge and best industry practices on Building Information Modelling (BIM).
Providing exposure to students, educators, and industry practitioners to the leading BIM technology.
Fostering partnerships and long-term relationships to accelerate technology adoption within the construction industry.
In addition to the MoU, TAR UMT also signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) with Trimble Solution Malaysia Sdn Bhd on the same day. The MoA focuses on the Building Information Modelling (BIM) competency training and certification for TAR UMT students. The project includes training and certifying TAR UMT students in BIM courses embedded in the undergraduate programmes and conducting BIM training programmes under Tekla Authorised Training Centre (ATC) in TAR UMT.
Trimble Solution Malaysia Sdn Bhd will sponsor software, including “Tekla Structure” and “Trimble Connect” worth RM 2.92 million to TARUMT, which will be used to facilitate the BIM training programmes. This partnership is expected to help equip TAR UMT students with the necessary skills and competencies to excel in the construction industry.
Wawasan Properties Development (M) Sdn Bhd
Tunku Abdul Rahman University College (TAR UC) now known as Tunku Abdul Rahman University of Management and Technology (TAR UMT) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Wawasan Properties Development (M) Sdn Bhd on 15 October 2018.
Among the special guests who attended the signing ceremony were Associate Professor Dr Ng Swee Chin, Vice President of TAR UC (now known as TAR UMT), Ir. Shim Woon Choon, Managing Director of Wawasan Group of Companies and Mr. Shim Foong Yen, Executive Director of Wawasan Group of Companies, and Associate Professor Sr Ooi Lay Yong, Dean of the Faculty of Built Environment.
Through the MoU both parties reaffirm the following area of collaborations:
To collaborate in advancing the teaching, training, and R & D of properties development / construction project management.
To promote, improve, and adopt smart, sustainable, and green development in the construction industry.
Any other areas of cooperation in R & D, teaching and learning related activities.
On 18 October 2023, TAR UMT renewed Memorandums of Understanding (MoU) with Wawasan Properties Development (M) Sdn. Bhd., signifying their continued dedication to cultivating more skilled individuals who can contribute to the country's demand for graduates within the construction industry, with a particular focus on the property sector. TAR UMT and Wawasan Properties Development (M) Sdn. Bhd. have established their academia-industry collaboration five years ago when they signed the first MoU in 2018.
TAR UMT also signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) with Wawasan to embark on a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) cum Knowledge Transfer Programme (KTP) Project by TAR UMT entitled “Sustainable Schools Initiative - Empowering Future Builders” in a primary school in Wangsa Maju, Setapak, Kuala Lumpur. It aims to enlighten and raise awareness among primary school students about the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 12: Responsible Consumption and Production.
